When Toyota’s top Los Angeles dealer principals gathered in the Bradshaw Mountains, they didn’t just attend an event — they stepped into an experience that had never been done before, in a location that almost no one knew existed.
THE BRIEF
Toyota wanted to honor its highest-performing dealer principals in the Los Angeles region with an experience worthy of their achievement. The goal was to move well beyond the typical hospitality formula — to create something that felt exclusive, unexpected, and unmistakably Toyota.
That meant finding a venue with character, building brand moments that felt natural rather than forced, and curating details that guests would still be talking about long after they returned home.
THE VENUE
Castle Hot Springs in Morristown, Arizona, sits at the end of a notoriously rough seven-mile mountain road. Rather than treating the access challenge as a liability, we turned it into the first moment of the event: guests arrived by helicopter, descending into a canyon where the first thing they saw — painted in the grass below — was a giant Toyota logo.
The arrival wasn’t just a transfer. It was an experience and a statement.
THE EXPERIENCE
Every touchpoint was designed to layer the Toyota identity into a genuinely luxurious context. A custom relaxation and wellness lounge was built out beside the natural hot springs, offering guests a serene retreat branded in subtle pops of Toyota red. This space was also flipped into the venue for a surprise songwriters’ session with The Warren Brothers – featuring trickling springs water in the background, setting the perfect ambiance. Pop-up shops featured curated products — shoes designed for the springs, silk pajamas monogrammed on-site — that gave guests something personal to take home.
Toyota red appeared throughout the resort as carefully considered design moments: in floral arrangements, lighting accents, table settings, and signage that felt considered rather than corporate.
“We found the canyon through word of mouth. When we asked the staff about it on our site visit, no one had ever heard of it — until one person thought they might know. They drove us out there, and we knew immediately: dinner had to happen here.”
THE CANYON DINNER
The defining moment of the event was a dinner served in a remote canyon location on the property — a place that, until this event, had never been used for a formal gathering. Discovered through word of mouth, the canyon featured a Santa Maria-style grill and a rugged natural beauty that no designed venue could replicate.
Getting there required hauling every element of the dinner — tables, linens, lighting, glassware, food, kitchen equipment, luxury restrooms, and a stage for a surprise concert featuring Tigirlily Gold— deep into the wilderness. The resort’s ownership had long dreamed of activating this space, and together we made it happen for the first time. The result was an intimate, firelit dinner under an open sky that felt genuinely once-in-a-lifetime.

None of it would have been possible without an extraordinary on-the-ground partner. The Castle Hot Springs team didn’t just execute a brief — they leaned into every ambitious idea, solved logistical challenges that had no playbook, and helped bring to life an event that had never been attempted on their property. Their ownership’s enthusiasm for the canyon dinner turned a dream into reality. We also had the most incredible décor and rental vendors that were not only up for the challenge of difficult setups but welcomed it.
