Moxi Events planned the AC Hotel Kansas City Westport Grand Opening in Kansas City, Missouri. AC Hotel is a newer brand by Marriott. The hotel in Kansas City is only the third to open in the U.S. besides Washington DC and New Orleans. The event was attended by 200 people.
Moxi worked with local restaurants and beverage companies to provide the food and drink for the event. They featured top partners in KC. Including: Bluestem, Port Fonda, Q39, Boulevard Brewery, Dark Horse Distillery and Bommarito Wines.
The goal of the event was to get the guests flowing through the hotel. To encourage this, Moxi created passports where the guest could visit each vendor and get a stamp to show they had stopped by. When they got all of the stamps, they turned in their passport and were entered to win prizes like nights at the AC Hotels, Macy’s gift cards, American Express gift cards and a TV.
The entrance to the hotel had a black carpet and stanchions. Oversized AC letters made out of shrubs and greenery, sleek signage and stations for vendors that blended in with the existing space and beautiful flowers to compliment the space.
To brand the event with their AC Hotels logo and the Marriott Rewards logo, there was a step & repeat wall, signage and floor clings that directed guests around the hotel, logo bottled water, photo booth with photo strips and gobo lighting.
At the end of the event, each attendee received a pilsner glass with AC Hotel and Boulevard logos and AC Hotel logo Christopher Elbow chocolates.
AC Hotels integrated social media into the event by creating a micro site that was sent in advance to get guests excited about the event. They had a Twitter contest with the person who had the most tweets won a prize.
